How are EF Tours to Italy, France and Switzerland? I may be going with EF tours to Italy, France, and Switz with a group from my school. I want to know anything you can tell me, details, whether you liked it. Also, if you visited any of these places how much extra money did you spend each days, breakfast, dinner, and most lunches are already included in the original balance. Thanks!

guided tours of Italy? I'm looking for a guided tour of Italy for my family and our friends to go on. The problem I'm having is finding something that will be fun for everyone. The youngest traveler will be 14, then there are my brother & I who are both in our early 20s, and the parents who are all in their 50s. I'm looking mainly for a tour that will have a good mix of young people and older. My brother and I basically don't want to go on a tour and feel like we're with our grandparents. If anyone knows of any tours like that, I would really appreciate the info! Oh and we may also have some of our own friends come along, who are also all in their early 20s.

We want to do a bicycle tour in Italy but they all seem to be to long and too expensive. Any suggestions? We are planning a trip to Europe for next summer and we really want to do a bicycle tour. We are planning on traveling for two weeks and spending most, if not all, of our time in Italy. I've found plenty of bike tour sites but they all have tours that are either 1 day or 7+ days (too long since we want to do Rome and Florence too) and most of them are like $2000+ because they put you up in a 4 or 5 star hotel!! We're not that pretencious. We really would like to find something for 3-4 days that is cheaper a few hundred per person and we'd prefer camping. Any suggestions of where to look?
Pilgrimage (religious shrines) tours in Italy (incl. Rome); group best, or on-your-own? My daughters and I are in the planning stages of making a pilgrimage tour to Catholic shrines in Italy (at least ... would like to include parts of Portugal and France if feasible). We're at least a couple of years from actually making the trip, but want to plan carefully -- and need to save travel funds bit by bit. I've seen packaged tours offered that seem to cover everything; on the other hand, I'm wondering if we could save money and have a more flexible itinerary by doing it on our own. Any recommendations?
What are the best bicycle tour companies in Italy? We'll be honeymooning in italy in September and want to spend a week or so touring Italy by bicycle. Anybody have experience with great (or bad) bike touring companies operating in Italy for late-twenty-something, avid cyclists? So I guess I can't answer my own question but thanks to the dude who recommended Butterfield & Robinson I found this site which I proved to be quite useful: http://www.biketour-reviews.com/index.htm

Brendan Tours in Italy-- Some Questions? I'm looking forward to going to Italy this summer but I just get the feeling doing a tour will feel like a school trip, and thats not my idea of a vacation. I mean for all I know I could end up loving the tour, but I'd rather just kind of hang out with my mom because were pretty close and do our own thing. (I'm 16 by the way) The tour were doing is by Brendan and its called the Glimpse of Italy, its 9 days but well be there for 12 total because were also doing a 3 day extension in Sorrento with Brendan as well. If anyone has taken a tour from Brendan (or any other tour company in Italy I guess) just let me know how it was. If you enjoyed it or not, how much free time you had, any things I should know. My mom said the whole tours gonna be all old people, is this true? Not that it really matters, I'm just curious, being 16 I dont wanna feel like im with a buncha senior citizens lol, thanks in advance =]

EF Educational Tours trip to Italy and Spain? I'm going to Italy and Spain for 11 days this upcoming summer with EF Educational Tours. I've heard different things about the tour company, so I just want to make sure it's an okay tour company. I've heard from some people that you don't get your own beds, and that you have to share a bed with someone else. My cousin, however, went on a tour to Spain with the same company in 2005 and said that she had her own bed. Anyways, I'd also like to know what types of things to pack. I'll be going June 20-30, 2008. It'll be my first time traveling to Europe, but not my first time traveling abroad. In 2005 I traveled with the People to People Student Ambassador Program. What are some major differences between P2P and EF? How much money would you recommend me taking? Any other information you may have about the program or the two destinations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for the help.
Looking for a Rome, Italy tour guide company? Can someone recommend a tour company in Rome that will take a small group for a tour outside of Rome - not too far out but some where to get a little 'local flavor' of Italy outside of the typical tourist area.

My friends and I are going to england in may.We would like to know of any rail tours to france italy and spain We were thinking of leaving from manchester or london on May 1st and spending a maximum of two weeks on the tour. If this time is not available, we don't mind going at any time in May. We would like to travel by rail, have an escorted tour, and go to france (paris), italy and spain. If going to all these locations is not possible, we would like to go at least to Paris. We have a budget of a $1000 canadian at most for the tour (that's why we didn't want to travel on the tour by plane, we figured rail would be cheaper). Thanks

How can I avoid looking like an obvious tourist in Italy? About 11 people from my Italian club (at school) are going to Italy with a tour group called CHA. My Italian teacher, who has organized two trips prior to this one, wants us to wear CHA's backpack when we're over there, in order for her to see us easily. I personally think that it's just going to be an even more obvious indicator that we're tourists, aside from the fact that we'll be traveling in a group... As far as I know, no one else has had to label themselves a tourist in such a way on her two previous trips. Any suggestions on how I can *try* to convince her to drop the whole "wear the backpack with the obvious CHA label" idea? Also, for those of you who live, have lived, or have been to Italy in the past, what do they usually wear? I was considering bringing several of my Hollister shirts, plus a few plain (non-labeled) shirts, and jeans. Will this just scream "TOURIST!," or do they have/wear Hollister over there? Thank you!

Questions About EF Tours to Italy&Spain? I'm not going until summer '09 but I'm really excited and have lots of questions. Do you get to choose who you room with in the hotel? Do you generally have to get up really early? Are you REALLY not allowed to bring electronics that plug in? Did you have to get your own ride to the airport? Was your tour with other schools? How long did you get to shop on your own? Overall how would you rate the trip 1-10? Thanks Guys :] Also what do you recommend to pack that most people forgot ? How much did you trip your guide?

Please recommend a great Italy tour guide for us? We are a group of 6 in our early 30s, most married, and business working professionals who need a nice vacation before some of start thinking about starting a family. We want to visit Rome, Milan, Florence in about 12 days. Since it's our first time, we want to visit the major sites, do some serious outlet shopping, and enjoy some fine dining, and maybe visit some special experiences like visiting a winery or taking an italian cooking class, etc. We would sincerely appreciate a referral to someone who can plan all of this out for us and guide us all over Italy. We are definitely willing to pay for a great experience since we don't get to travel as much as we'd like to. We would like to stay at nicer hotels, ideally some with elevators. Thanks in advance!!

Has anyone been on it before and have anything they really liked or disliked about it? Oooh im so excited for Italy :D:D:D Anything to say about Italy? Things to watch out for?
going to italy soon....theres only one problem!!....???? ok heres the stitch my sister and i are in a band and they're taking a trip to italy around this time next year. the price per person was around $2,000 per person, and my parents could afford to take the whole family. (family of 5). but, a lot of people dropped out and arent going, so the price went up to $3,000. turns out, my parents not cant afford to bring the whole family, and i dont blame them! so, my mom said that if we go only one parent could go. so my sister and i were devestated obviously. BUT, my cousin in italy is getting married this summer, and my mom said that if we went, we could have our own little tour of italy (since the band was touring italy) and go to a traditional italian wedding for our cousins (which i would really really love!) so your options are: 1) going to italy with the band, but only going with one parent. 2) going to italy with the family, taking your own tour, and attending a relatives wedding. now the question is below.... which one should we go to?! my parents said it's up to my sister and i...i would really love to go with the band, but i mean i couldnt go on the other side of the world w/o 1 parent, and my little brother. but my sister was more devestated, and said she wanted to go with the band really badly. i go with option #2. what do you think? option #1 or #2???? whyy??? ok i'm not doing this to brag going to europe or anything, we have to decide this by the end of january, because we have to get payments to the band by then. this is a really hard decision! but like i would rather do #2 because we would still be touring italy and see our cousins who we only saw once when they came to the states...ughh. decisions decisions decisions.

Has Anyone used Gate1 Travel to book a trip/tour to Italy? My Husband and I have been looking at using Gate1 just because the prices are pretty good for doing a 10-14 day tour of Italy. We want Rome, Venice and Florence. We'd like to do a few "tour group" things, but we want to be on our own as well since it's our honeymoon. Has anyone used them, what was your experiance like- were they a reputable company?
Ten Day Tour of Italy in April - Advice? I'm spending ten days in Rome & southern Italy (Naples, Sorrento, Taormina, etc.) with a student tour group in mid-April. What should I make sure to bring with me, especially for the weather during that time of year? Are there any items that would be useful that you wouldn't normally think of bringing with you? I'm looking to travel light, seeing as we're going to be moving from place to place, so any suggestions for packing would be great as well.
Suggestion for a guided tour trip to Italy Summer 2008? Help!? My mom and I are looking to travel to Italy this summer. We definitely want to go on a guided tour, and would like to travel all around Italy (Rome, Venice, Florence for sure). However, we are looking to do so for no more than about $6000 total. Anyone have any suggestions of good tours groups that will work with our budget?
When did Mussolini give all British nationals 48 hours to leave Italy ? Anyone know the precise date ? My Ma was touring Italy with a troupe of chorus girls (Bluebell Girls from the Folies Bergere) when Italy declared war (this is WW2) on Britain (or was it the other way round?) and the girls - mostly English - had 48 hours to leave the country. I've known this story all my life and never thought much about it, but now she is nearing the end of her life (92) and can no longer speak, I'm thinking about that extraordinary train journey across the Alps to Gare du Nord, then the boat train home with a dozen other peroxide blondes ! I'd just like to know what time of year, date, etc., and can get no help from wikipedia
Italy.......? I'm going to Italy for June 29-July 28 2007 for a summer school in Italy and touring program. Rome is where I'll be. Is there anything specific I should bring? Is there anything at all anyone can tell me about being in Italy? Thanks in advance :)
Recommend any good tour company for Italy for a couple? I would like to take my husband to Italy for our 10th anniversary and would like to do it through a tour. The company I would like should be reputable, reliable, won't cramp 50 passengers in a bus for 50 (you know..no extra leg room!), will include all major sightseeing places instead of charging you extra for them, and also would give you tons of free time to explore on your own. Of course, hotels should be centrally located, without the need of being luxurious. I would like something economical, but not hostels. Any suggestions? forgot to add, next summer 2008 probably June.
